The corrosion of concrete drainage pipes and control measures

Abstract: Urban sewage cause drainage pipes that are made from concrete to corrode severely, therefor huge human, material and financial resources are consumed in countries in the world. The erosion occurs chiefly due to SO42- that is finally induced by complicated biochemical reaction which is decomposition and redox reaction caused by microbe on organisms in sewage. Chief ways of solving this problem are to coat anticorrosive and waterproof materials. One of the 《ZHONGHE 2000》 series waterproof materials——CN2000B（CCCW）is the first choice of this kind of materials.

1. Origin and Importance of the Problem
　　There are many and various kinds of microbes in industrial and urban sewage. The concrete corrosion of caused by the metabolism of microbes is called microbe corrosion of concrete. The microbe corrosion may cause the surface mortar of the concrete structure in the sewage delivery and processing facilities to fall out and the aggregate to be exposed. When this corrosion is very serious, the concrete will crack and the steel bar will be corroded. Thereby this will decrease the facilities service life greatly. This not only influences the global function of a city directly, but also consumes great material and financial resources on rebuilding and repairing of these important infrastructures.
